(still learning)

This is my first link:   where I work: WEKU
Maybe I can write something in color
Maybe I can link to the Music Personnel in Public Radio web page:   AMPPR
Maybe something in a new color:
Maybe a poem I just wrote:
Old Fashioned Things

Today I mended a sheet
Just to prove I still know how.

Maybe to prove that I know how
to take care of things,
Preserve things that might be of value,
The old sewing machine,
A cotton sheet, torn by a careless cat
Too new to be discarded.

I used an old torn sheet I loved once for the patch
An old torn sheet that had been a luxury,
A color I called Peach, ambiguous and rich
Its fabric 100% cotton, soft to sleep on but
Not as strong as blends.

I replaced it with the new sheet, also cotton,
I didn't wait for a lovely peach, bought a blushing pink instead,
sweet, serviceable, totally unambiguous.,
but no reason to throw it away just because
the cat in a fit of pique one night jumped where he shouldn't have
and tore a vicious corner in the corner of the sheet.

I neglected the angry tear for a long time,
it got soft along the margins after several washings.
It may be that it would have not reduced the
useful life of the sheet, it happened where no one would sleep,
or probably even catch a toe.  But, neglect can grow,
and who knows what would be neglected next?
